ABOUT One Nation Under God
One Nation Under God is a movie that explores the role of religion in schools, first amendment rights, and the courage necessary to stand by one’s convictions.
David Gutierrez (played by Isaak Presley in One Nation Under God) is new to Lee High Magnet school. David is from the wrong side of the tracks and gained admission to the prestigious school through a lottery system. Unfortunately, his good luck ends there. From the first bell on his first day, he runs afoul of Gordon, the resident school bully, who also happens to be the principal’s son.
“If our founding fathers placed God at the center of our Nation, shouldn’t God be a part of our schools and government today?”

In One Nation Under God things go from bad to worse when a Senator (and leading Presidential candidate), Weston Viera, comes to speak to the school. When David has the chance to ask a question, he seizes the opportunity. His question, “If our founding fathers placed God at the center of our Nation, shouldn’t God be a part of our schools and government today,” and the Senator’s answer are made public when a video of the encounter is leaked, setting off a frenzy of national press coverage.
After that pivotal moment in One Nation Under God the fate of David and Weston are intertwined, and both struggle to have the faith and courage to stand up for what they truly believe.
